A STEP AWAY FROM STARS
Hotel Cristallo, 3 stars superior, is located in Val di Fassa. Let us entice you with our exclusive Alpine atmosphere. Our family and the whole Cristall staff welcome you for an amazing a 360° holiday.
Hotel Cristallo: proud to offer warm hospitality in a spectacular setting, since 1967. My mother, Erna Dietl, native of South Tyrol, grew up into a “maso”, one of the traditional South Tyrolean "farms". She left home very young to start working in the hotels of the most prestigious touristic alpine areas in the surroundings.
My father, Valentino Chiocchetti, from 1950 to 1960 was an athlete member of the Italian cross-country skiing team. In 1954 he participated at the World Championships in Falun, Sweden, where he obtained the best time in the relay race. He turned his passion for skiing into a profession, beginning teaching skiing to our customers, transmitting them love, knowledge and passion for these magic mountains.
I spent my childhood within these beautiful mountains which I know up close. Grow up with the same passion as my father, I am now a alpine ski instructure. It is a pleasure for me to continue this profession despite the hotel everyday management requires a lot of commitment.
I learned to love this job, sometimes so difficult, but extremely rewarding! My greatest satisfaction is seeing our guests feel like home, thanks to that perfect mixture of professionalism and intimacy that we offer here at Hotel Cristallo.
Seeing that my customers feel good into an alliance of professionalism and familiarity is my biggest satisfaction.
Our Lounge Bar with a wonderful view of Dolomites, was completely renovated. Now the modern style joins the materials, which are typical of our architectural tradition and handed down by our grandfathers. We created spaces with different “atmospheres”. In this way, our guests can choose where to taste our creations: the “sweet snacks,” the aperitifs, cocktails and researched wines or the several grappas of our cellar.
Welcome to our living room. Enjoy its warm and romantic atmosphere and give yourself some unforgettable relaxing moments.
In our restaurant you will find a mix of creativity, top quality products, local recipes and Mediterranean fantasy. Our chef Valerio along with his staff will surprise you every day pampering even the most demanding palates.
THE STORY OF SAN PELLEGRINO PASS
Did you know that...
San Pellegrino’s Pass has always been a border zone. By "Cinghen" there is an immense "rock" where there is carved the date "1474" that indicates the borders between Veneto and the Episcopal Principality of Bressanone. The pass has been from immemorial times an obligatory passage for the merchants. Here was instituted a hospice for wayfarers in 1358 too, which was built by the friars of the San Pellegrino delle Alpi ’s order. In 1420 the hospice was guided by Moena Administration ( the day’s municipal district) which named with a democratic voting in square a prior for the management of the building. On the pass you can find a little church dedicated to S. Antonio and S. Giuliana. Once a year we celebrate S. Antonio and today too, but only in that date, we respect the tradition to offer eating and drinking.
The mountains around San Pellegrino’s Pass were background for the fight between the Austro-Hungarian troops during the First World War. This historical hospice and the delicious little church remain as testimony of the past of our Val di Fassa, where the people speak Ladin, a very ancient language that was born before the arrival of the Romans. The first tourists interested in mountain came after the first half of ‘800, they travelled with sleights towed by horses, taken by alpine guides. During the thirties starts the skiing ’s practice . The women skied with long skirts made of lane. The teachers were the people of the zone who had learned to ski and were skilled experts of the mountain, they took the tourists on the steep slopes making them to know the most beautiful mountains in the world. The first ski-lifts were built in 1962.
